The Men’s Golf Section was founded in 1934. Nationally, annually there are a number of events competed for. The sections premier event is the Scratch Championship 72 hole stroke play held in late May early June. It will be the 75 th playing of the Championship in 2009 at Trevose Golf and Country Club, Cornwall. The scratch championship traditionally ballots around five handicap. Entrants are accepted from Regional scratch champions who win their Police Sport UK regional event, regardless of handicap.

The Handicap Championship 36 hole nett to be played every September. First played for in 2007. Maximum handicap 18, two players per force area. Team Championship first played for in 1982 which consists of teams of ten players in the format of four ball better balls using handicaps. Played throughout the year in regions in a knock out style with the finals held in September.

All these events accept entries under Rule 36 of The Police Constitution and rules.

The section has two representative fixtures played against the Army and Civil Service on an annual basis. The top twenty players in the Scratch event are automatically chosen to represent the Police Sport UK men’s golf section.

Men’s golf is not a USPE sport.
