The Rugby League section has a representative side who play regular fixtures both at home and abroad. They play annually in the STEEDEN cup, which includes teams from the armed forces, the British Amateur Rugby League (BARLA) at different levels, ie, under 18's and open age teams, English and Scottish Students teams and other emergency services. This is usually played over a 4 month period culminating in a final.

They also host touring teams. In recent years these have included teams representing the Australian and New Zealand Police services.

On a four yearly basis, the team undertakes an overseas tour, these have included Australia in 1996, South Africa in 2000, New Zealand in 2004 and later this year will attend again in Australia to take part in the Police World Cup.

In order to represent the British Police team, players are expected to play in inter force matches.

At the moment, West Yorkshire, The metropolitan, Cheshire and a combined Lancashire / Greater Manchester Police team compete for the trophy.

Each will play the others leading to a finals day usually played toward the back end of the year.

If a player wishes to play and his force does not already compete, he may play for the nearest or most convenient force for him.

Players old and new are always welcome , particularly at force level.
