The basketball section comprises of a men’s and ladies section open to any force wishing to participate in the sport.
Regional qualifiers are held in January of each year with National Finals held in April for the men’s section and May for the ladies section where 12 teams participate. First, second and third placed teams from the previous years finals automatically qualify for the next years finals along with the host force.
The section has National men’s and ladies teams who participate in Police Sport UK approved events (usually 4 per year).
Basketball is a USPE event with the first women’s USPE basketball competition being hosted by the UK in Sheffield in 2009.
